We’d welcome donations to the Celebration Fund for Colin Walters, who sadly passed away in October this year.
Many of you will know Colin from the radio industry where he spent most of his career. Having entered the industry as Producer Presenter at BBC Radio Nottingham in the late 60s, he rose to become Managing Director at Manchester’s Piccadilly Radio. A true radio pioneer, Colin can lay claim to be one of a small group of people who invented the commercial radio industry in the UK.
In later Colin worked as a consultant to the radio industry before retiring to France. He is survived by his four much loved children and Petrina, his wife and constant companion of more than 35 years.
Sadly in later years Colin suffered from vascular dementia – and it was this unforgiving illness which ultimately ended his life. Donations made via this page will go to Alzheimer’s UK, who do important work in both dementia research and providing support to affected families.
Colin will be remembered by all who knew him for his energy, irreverent humour and fierce creativity – and will be deeply missed by his friends and
family.
Help grow Colin's Tribute by adding messages or memories you'd like to share.
